Community mental health centers are located in ten regions of the state and provide eligibility determinations for state-funded mental health services as part of their intake process.  Eligible persons include people with severe mental illness in need of long-term services, people with severe mental illnesses, people who formerly had severe mental disabilities, and people with mental illnesses who are under age 18 or over the age of 60.  A person with an acquired brain disorder may also have a mental illness.
